The amendment ensures the school's continued ability to award degrees while maintaining the established quality assurance processes.
Arguments For
Continued Educational Opportunity: Extending the Architectural Association School of Architecture's authorization ensures continued access to its degree programs for students.
Maintaining Educational Standards: The Office for Students' review and approval process ensures the school maintains quality standards in higher education.
Administrative Efficiency: Extending the existing authorization simplifies administrative processes, compared to creating a new one.
Legal Precedent: The amendment follows established legal procedures outlined in the Higher Education and Research Act 2017.
Arguments Against
Potential for future review: The extension does not guarantee long-term authorization, and further review of the school's performance may be necessary in the future.
Lack of public consultation: The amendment may not have involved sufficient public consultation before enactment.
Resource allocation: The decision to extend may limit the possibility of establishing new higher education structures or prioritizing other institutions.
